SEARCH RESTRICTIONS & LIMITATIONS

RESTRICTIONS: The ESCN Database Surname Search Service is available for specific Surname Searches only. It is not available for searches of a broad, general nature, that would basically duplicate all or large amounts of information that is found published in our yearly Reference Book publications. For example, a search request to search for ALL surnames in the year 1732 would not be allowed. Our reference book series would be best suited for that type of research.

Additionally, our Surname Search Service is not available for searches looking only for publication references to a particular individual (such as Thomas Jones, for example). Those types of searches, along with a number of other types of specialized searches, are available, but fall under a different search fee structure and classification. Go here to learn more about other types of specialized searches that are offered by ESCN Database Reports.

No more than 10 REASONABLE spelling variations may be included within the framework of a single Surname Search. Please review the Reasonable Spelling Variations page to determine what is and is not considered to be reasonable.

ESCN Database Reports reserves the exclusive right to refuse any and all Database Special Search Requests that it feels are in violation of the general intent and purpose of its Surname Search Service.

LIMITATIONS: Information provided in ESCN Database Surname Search Results Reports is intended to assist Genealogists, Historians, and other interested persons in the research of early newspapers. Specific newspaper publication data contained in ESCN Database Surname Search Results Reports may NOT be resold or be redistributed to other parties and may NOT be duplicated or copied in any form, without the express permission of ESCN Database Reports.

HOWEVER, information contained within the ESCN Database Surname Search Results Reports MAY be fully utilized by a customer to assist that customer in the research and development of new and original personal and/or commercial intellectual works, such as those that might be created by a professional Genealogist for a client in the researching of a specific family history, for example.
